Post-printing Process Quality
Post-printing processes can give a certain level of protection to the print and create desired visual effects for gift boxes. But processes of poor quality may simply compromise the packaging.
Varnishing/Coatings: Check coating quality through visual inspection, scotch tape & glossmeters.
1. The coatings are clear and sheen, no distinct color shift. Specifically, the glossiness should be no less than 60 for varnish/aqueous coating and 80 for UV coating.
2. The coatings are applied evenly and firmly, no bubble, steaks or wrinkles etc.
3. The gloss is consistent across the whole surface.
Film Laminates: Check laminate quality through visual inspection & damage testing.
1. The film adheres firmly, peeling it off will damage the ink lay and paper as well.
2. The surface is smooth and glossy, no color shift, bubble or wrinkles etc.
3. The test result with a glossmeter should be no less than 90.
Hot Stamping: Check hot stamping quality of paper boxes through visual inspection and 3M 600 tapes.
1. Foil model and color comply with the sample or requirements.
2. Hot stamping is smooth, neat & in right location, no bubble or color shift.
3. The stamping is solid & intact with good shine.
Embossing/Debossing: Check embossing quality through visual inspection.
The embossing/debossing has clear outlines, no rupture, and has the agreed depth.
